I've never worked with a caterer before. How does this work?

Ultimately, we are here to provide you with effortless products and services. There is a lot of information on our website, it's there to give you a view into our services. However, you've reached out because you want the service of being catered to, allowing yourself to be your own guest, so we are happy to navigate all of those menus and information for you.

Initially, by email or phone, we ask you to describe your vision of your event and allow us to guide you through the planning process. Some key information to have is the date & time (time guests will arrive) for your event, number of guests, style of meal, any dietary restrictions, if rentals are required, bar service and budget (if any). It's our job to take your information and provide you with a quote. From there we work through what you need to ensure your vision comes to fruition.

Can you provide staff for my event?

Absolutely, as a full-service catering company we have a large staff of professional, fully-trained servers, bartenders, chefs and cooks available for all manner of functions.

How many guests can your catering team accommodate?

Our team is happy to work on events of all sizes. From intimate dinners to galas, cocktail parties to business openings, we have a varied capacity.

Staff requirements are based on the number of guests, the menu, and the style of event.  The catering manager will recommend the number of staff required. There is a 4-hour minimum for each staff member. Staffing improves our service to you and to your guests and reflects our business accordingly.

Service staff will be required if the party is 15 people or more and where the event is not a drop off.

My corporation is hosting a gala and fundraising event, can you help?

Our team has over a decade of experience creating elaborate menus and executing large-scale events. We are happy to work with the business' in-house planner and marketing team or create the event from scratch with the company's instructions.  We are well established with vendors in entertainment, staffing, décor, floral and design to transform any space into a spectacular event guests will be talking about.

My company is hosting important clients for a dinner reception. Can you cater for business events like this?

We are happy to caterer corporate events of any kind be it in your office, a private home or at an event space. We offer corporate menus for breakfast, lunch, cocktail parties and dinner.

Where can I see your menus?

Right here! Please note, these menus are representative but not exhaustive of what we can produce. Each event requires different needs and we intend on meeting your specific requirements.

Are you able to accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions in your menus?

We take allergies and dietary restrictions very seriously and are happy to prepare custom menus to meet your needs. Please note while every effort will be made our kitchen is not nut free and items may have come into contact with nuts.

I am having a small party and want something really simple. Do you offer any menus I can just quickly order from?

Designed for just such occasions, we offer a variety of menus to suit any occasion and can be delivered on disposable platters. Our menu includes a wide selection of canapés, dips and spreads in addition to charcuterie, vegetable, fruit & cheese platters. Our buffet menu offers a variety of full meals for easy entertaining. Please inquire. Heating and other instructions will be included. We are also happy to provide staff and rentals to make the event even easier for you.

I am thinking about serving canapés at my party. How many will I need to make sure my guests are happy?

As a general rule we recommend 1 canapé for every 1/3 hour of service for canapés being served before dinner. For canapés being served in place of a meal we recommend 1 canapé for every 1/4 hour of service, minimum of 12 pieces per person. Our team will detail in your quote the amount of food required for a successful event.

I'm hosting a children's party. Are you able to cater to children as well as adults?

The team at Dine & Style Fine Catering and Events all have children and know how to feed the little ones. We have designed a Kid's Menu for children specifically.

How much does catering a private party cost?

There are so many variables that go into determining the cost of an event that there are no hard and fast rules around pricing. The best place to start is to get a quote, meet the staff and view the food (presentation, if it is locally sourced, how trays are garnished, overall taste etc.) and then we can create a proposal that falls within your budget while incorporating your wants for the event. Generally, it can be said that for:

Buffet menus (based on 50 guests or more) start at approximately $25.00/person. Additional costs would be incurred if you decided you wanted staff and rentals.

Canapé menus (based on 50 guests or more) start at approximately $30.00/person for a menu of canapés in lieu of dinner. Additional costs would be incurred if you decided you wanted staff and rentals.

Plated menu (based on 50 guests or more) start at approximately $32.00/person for a three course menu. Additional costs would be incurred if you decided you wanted staff and rentals.

Can you help me find the perfect venue for my event?

Yes! Our team have scoured the area to find all the very best event venues available and would be pleased to assist you with recommendations and insight.

Can you provide cutlery, plates, glassware, etc. for my event?

We are pleased to coordinate all your rental needs through our partner rental companies and will indicate this on your quote appropriately. We will take care of ensuring you have everything you need, in the right amounts for a seamless event. Rentals are based on individual event requirements and we utilize a rental company for the best selection of modern and unique serving pieces. Rentals are delivered to the event 24 hours prior to event and are picked up from event site within 48 hours after event.

What will your service staff do on-site?

Our staff will take responsibility for the loading in and out of the venue, final prepping, plating and service of all food & products provided. They will ensure that the event space is kept tidy and that any of your guests needs regarding food is met.  If you hire our bartenders they will provide responsible service of your alcohol, will clear and manage all glassware, and will attend to any of your guests needs regarding beverages.  Additionally, arrangements can be made for our staff to provide coat check, hosting, setup and tear down of décor and any other event needs you may have.

I am overwhelmed with my wedding plans. Can you help me organize rentals, entertainment, flowers and décor for my reception dinner?

Our Catering and Events Manager is happy to help. We have a list of preferred vendors that we are pleased to recommend and we will happily coordinate all vendors and timelines.

What associations are you members of?

Dine & Style Fine Catering and Events is a proud member of Durham Farm Fresh Association, the Canadian Food and Restaurant Association and the International Catering Association. What does it all mean? We have aligned ourselves with local, Canadian and International affiliations. With the Durham Farm Fresh Association, this allows us to source local produce and goods on your behalf to enrich your menu and catering experience. Through the CFRA, we are members entitled to attend Canadian catering trade shows and exhibits, while being informed on critical restaurant protocol and trends. The ICA allows us to communicate with fellow caterers around North America and abroad, allowing us to keep ahead on catering trends, design concepts, and the news within the catering community.

Scheduling and Bookings

How far in advance do I need to book?

For orders from our corporate packages drop offs we request a minimum of 48 hours' notice. For larger, more complex events requiring staff & rentals we request a minim of 1 weeks' notice with 1 month being our preference. Please do not hesitate to call sooner, we are happy to prepare proposals for events as soon as your event planning gets underway.

When do you require a final guest count?

We request your final guest count be submitted 1 week prior to your event. We will do our best to accommodate increases but will no longer be able to honour a decrease in the guest count.
